When you purchase a resin figure, expect to find resin blocks and seam lines.  I use a scalpel, saw, or a Dremel Tool to cut off excess resin.   I use sandpaper (or nail files) and metal files to get rid of seams and Miliput or putty to fill in gaps in the seams.  When doing a figure it is very important to get rid of all seams and mold marks, because later on when you dry brush these marks will show up and detract from the appearance of your figure.  Once you have completed all sanding and puttying, wash the figure with soap and warm water.  Set it aside and let dry for a day.  Washing the figure removes the oil residue picked up in the molding process.  The oil will prevent paint from adhering to the resin so it needs to be washed away.
